This photo was most likely taken in the period between the conferring of the Knight’s Cross for Rommel (May 27, 1940), and his appointment as Generalleutnant (January 1, 1941). He married Lucia Maria Mollin while on leave from the army in 1916 their son, Manfred, was born in December 1928. Also the Rommel family line would have continued through his two brothers Gerhard who died in 1978 and Karl Manfred who. Manfred had a daughter named Catherine who is a lawyer and Gertrude had a son named Anton Pan and a daughter named Helga Pan. She married Josef Pan, a fruit vendor, and had three children Josef, Helga and Anton. She was born at Weingarten, a town in Württemberg, in the District of Ravensburg, Germany. Erwin Rommel’s daughter Gertrude passed away as has his son Manfred. Born Maria Gertrud, she was the daughter of Erwin Rommel and Walburga Stemmer.
